Meet the team
Bryn Melyn Care is led by a multi-disciplinary Operations Board with each role having lead responsibility for their area of practice expertise. This group is collectively responsible for the development of practice strategy and the onging monitoring of performance across the organisation. The individual members of the team are:
Managing Director, Steve Nevitt
Steve is responsible for leading the organisation in terms of practice and business, providing line management to the Operations Board and promoting Bryn Melyn Care in developing and influencing specialist therapeutic care in the UK. His role, supported by the Operations Board is to establish and maintain the culture within the organisation, driving continual improvement and working with key stakeholders across the sector to improve outcomes for young people.

Steve is a qualified social worker and has a post-graduate management qualification; he has been working with children and young people for over 20 years in a variety of residential settings including a local authority secure unit. He also spent five years as a social worker and managed a mulit-disciplinary youth offending team in a large local authority before joining Bryn Melyn Care as a divisional director in 2005.
Finance Director, Rebecca Northall ACA
Rebecca joined Bryn Melyn Care as Finance Director in February 2011 and is responsible for the company's financial management, IT and administration functions. This role is an integral part of the running of day to day operations and also involves reviewing and carrying out the longer term strategies of the business to ensure a secure and stable environment in which the organisation can continue to operate.
Rebecca is a qualified Chartered Accountant with nearly 10 years post qualification experience in a variety of areas. During her time at KPMG Rebecca was involved in a range of activities from large corporate acquisitions and transactions of FTSE companies to restructuring exercises, advisory projects and working with smaller owner managed businesses.
Since leaving practice Rebecca has worked in the care industry and has gained valuable industry knowledge and skills which she brings to Bryn Melyn Care to add value to the organisation and the quality of service which we offer.
Outside of her role with Bryn Melyn Care, Rebecca has worked as a volunteer with the Prince's Trust, mentoring young people starting out in business. She has also been involved with workshops for young people attending college who wish to gain some practical work experience of running a business.
Director of Operations, Tom Ellison BSc (Hons), MA
Tom is responsible for overseeing the residential and clinical practice within Bryn Melyn Care, supported by three area managers and a clinical service manager. The Director of Operations has strategic responsibility for ensuring that Bryn Melyn Care maintains the highest standards of therapeutic care, clinical assessment and individual treatment. This role also includes the management of referrals and placement activity, supported by the placements manager, oversight of internal and external quality assurance monitoring and development of the Bryn Melyn Care Practice Model.

Tom has over 18 years professional experience of working with young people who have experienced trauma, in a number of residential and psychiatric settings in the voluntary, public and private sectors. A former registered manager, Tom has experience of working in settings which include a residential school, a psychiatric provision for adolescents and numerous children’s homes as well as five years as a member of the senior management team for a provider of residential therapeutic services to children.
Tom holds a BPS approved Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master’s degree in psychoanalytic observational studies from the Tavistock Clinic. Tom also holds postgraduate qualifications in management and strategic management and is a member of the Chartered Management Institute. Tom joined Bryn Melyn Care as the Director of Care in March 2010.

Director of Education, Learning and Development, Sarah Morgan BA(Hons) PGDip FAHE, NPQH

Sarah is responsible for overseeing all areas of teaching, training and learning across the organisation, which includes overarching responsibility for two independently registered schools and a vocational training centre. Sarah is supported by two registered head teachers on each school site, a vocational training manager and a manager with responsibility for learning and development. Sarah's role ensures that our nationally accredited education provision is responsive to the needs of our young people and that our education team remains integrated as part of the wider residential and clinical service.
In order to promote and ensure a positive culture of learning and development across the organisation, Sarah is responsible for ensuring that learning and development opportunities equip staff with the knowledge, skills and attitude to enable them to perform effectively within their roles and deliver high quality therapeutic care.
Sarah has previously worked within the criminal justice system and successfully introduced a range of teaching and learning strategies to support young offenders with their educational and emotional needs. Sarah has advised the Education Select Committee on prison education, worked at senior manager level as part of a multi-disciplinary team to improve learning for offenders within a secure setting, and taken a lead training role in the government’s Skills for Life strategy.
Sarah's teaching, training and learning priorities are to maintain a learning environment in which staff and young people are encouraged to contribute collaboratively to a strongly focused programme of educational development focusing on the core purpose of improving the lives of Looked after Children through the provision of a broad, balanced, integrated and flexible programme of learning which is regularly reviewed and tailored to meet the needs of all individuals. Sarah joined Bryn Melyn Care in October 2005 and has been instrumental in the development of our high quality teaching and learning provision.
