A new Head Teacher has been appointed to lead education services at Bryn Melyn Care at their expanding independent school based in Shropshire at the vocational and education training site near Wem.
Following the recent recruitment process, Bryn Melyn Care is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Lisa Garside as Head Teacher of Smallbrook School. She will take up her post formally from September 2016. Dr. Garside was most recently Assistant Head of Thomas Adams School in Wem, where she was responsible for vulnerable pupils in a large mainstream secondary school. She was the LAC and Designated Child Protection Lead, and also held SENCO responsibilities.
She worked before that as a freelance lecturer in equine and small animal studies and also as a Research Assistant at the Royal Veterinary College in London. Dr. Lisa Garside is a Doctor in Molecular Genetics.
Dr. Garside says “I am delighted to be appointed as Head Teacher of Smallbrook School. It is a unique opportunity to make a difference to the quality of life and success of children looked after both in their time at school and beyond and I am looking forward to leading Bryn Melyn Care’s education provision in this exciting new phase.
I am passionate about taking a child-centred approach to education and care but know that this involves setting targets and putting boundaries in place with high expectations that everyone involved with the child will follow. I am confident we can grow a school where children and young people can achieve success academically developing in confidence and resilience”
Bob Yetzes, CEO for Bryn Melyn Care adds “I would like to congratulate Lisa on her appointment and look forward to working with her as she leads the school into a new and exciting future. We were impressed with Lisa’s passion, enthusiasm and energy and her commitment and drive for taking the school forward and building on its success to date.”
