Bryn Melyn Care has done its Big Cake Bake thing for BBC Children in Need
Fundraising efforts and raised £174 to support disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK
Young people and staff at Bryn Melyn Care have successfully raised £87 for BBC Children in Need, after doing their Big Cake Bake thing to support the 2017 Appeal. Bryn Melyn Care matched their total raised making it an impressive £174 in total. The money raised will go on to help transform the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
Students spent a busy two days creating some wonderful cake creations and spent Children in Need day visiting homes and offices selling them. It was a welcome break from computer screens and meetings and one young person, in particular, was very persuasive with a winning sales technique for this special cause, raising money to support Children in Need.
Bryn Melyn Care provides residential homes and specialist care for children looked after, most of whom attend Smallbrook School, which is their independently registered school based in rural Shropshire. Each year, students are enthusiastic about raising money to support Children in Need; they have a number of keen bakers enrolled, and a willing and plentiful audience of hungry and generous members of staff who love to eat it!
Speaking of their efforts, Melissa Johnson, Operations Director said: “We’re overwhelmed with the response we had from our children and young people to doing our Bake Sale thing as a fundraiser and would like to say a huge thank you to all those who took part! It was great fun supporting BBC Children in Need and to know that we’ve raised £87 is a fantastic feeling. We were delighted to match this sum to bring it to a total of £174.”
Donations are still being accepted at head office or at school, so if you missed the cake run, let us know if you would still like to contribute.
BBC Children in Need works throughout the year to ensure that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood, and the chance to reach their full potential. It relies on the energy and commitment of thousands of fundraisers and supporters across the UK, who donate their time and money to put on events in support of the Appeal.
